New York City
Brooklyn Bridge Tower and Woolworth,
When The Brooklyn Bridge was opened in 1983, its Towers dominated the
entire New York Skyline.
Today they are dwarfed by skyscrapers, like the Woolworth building on
the left, created by the famous W. Woolworth, owner of the same denominator
trade chain empire.
It had been the highest until 1930, when the Chrysler Building was finished.
The towers of the Brooklyn Bridge serve two very fundamental purposes.
First they carry the weight of the four cables and in addition they regulate
the height in conjunction with the tide to avoid any collisions on the
water.
